!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
It ticks all the bad decision boxes. Rusty? yep. Runs? Hell no. Someone else’s project? You bet. Electrical problems mentioned in the ad? Absolutely. The electrical problems might be a deal breaker but how hard can it be?

Rodents eating insulation all through the car would probably be the worst case.
I give the seller credit, he’s not sugar coating it. I think...

Do it. Post pictures.

There’s more than $400 worth of parts there. Half of that in the tailgates alone if they are solid.
Electrical non starting will be ignition module or dizzy or similar. The rest of the electrics are par for the course.
The rust is nothing unless the firewall or the chassis is involved. If either of those...is scrap.
Just remember that this is probably a $4,400 investment!! If not more...

He also said it was too much for him to handle. Which means I’m hopeless. I feel that there aren’t too many people stupid enough to try it so I have a few days to think.

See there’s the problem. No such thing as a free puppy. And I, like the seller, am far too lazy to part it out.

This is a fantastic horrible idea.

Its a parts truck at best. Sadly. The rust in the floors means the seat mounts are unstable. Not worth fixing at this point. I want it :D Sounds like my kind of project. Should have seen the S60R I resurrected .

So was I. That’s why I gave mine away...
Old Mate got it running within 24 hours but roadworthy is quite another issue. It remains parked nearly two years later...

I think this is a brilliant idea

Bad idea? Yes. Should you do it? Also yes.

An SBC swap would be heresy
But yeah I vote for an SBC swap.

That’s only a problem if it can move under its own power. I did notice that but it didn’t dissuade me from sending the seller an email.

I would do it in a heartbeat. But I'm a special case (not necessarily a good thing!)

Worth a closer look maybe a s long as you know where to look for the biggie.
Seller does seem honest a t least so will tell you what he knows.

Th e biggie? Is that some horrifying common problem that means the engine is 3 revolutions away from mimicking a supernova or that it'll break in half at the first pothole?

These things are pretty simple, and the rust is in typical (but fixable) areas. The frame never rusts on these trucks. Thats a good deal for a project, I approve.

DO IT! I bought mine out of a farm field where it had sat for 7 years. It took a lot of work, a lot of welding, but now I have a decently sorted example that looks decent from 10 feet.
Wow, typing that out and reading it back made me feel pretty pathetic... b ut you should do it! Seriously, they are dead simple to work on and the parts are cheap if you know where to shop.

Also, I think that is the same truck as this one from the forums...
https://www.rangerovers.net/forum/8-range-rover-classic/335764-1994-classic-restore-part-out.html
And that’ s not footwell rust, this is footwell rust...

Yep that’s the truck. Story matches the email the seller sent me.
